So, it’s raining just a BIT here in the Houston area... There’s about a foot of water in my backyard against the fence (hooray for flood planning by the developer, as “against the fence” means “NOT in the house”) and every school district is shut down. The following seems appropriate.
Have a LOVELY DAY, errbody!!

Since I no longer have a truck, I might have to

Yup, just a bit.
I would take a pic of the street out my window but I don't want to step into the water surrounding my bed/boat lol

I was living in Houston when tropical storm Allison came calling. I was finally convinced that we were going to flood when a bro in his truck pushed a wave of water up my driveway and into my garage. It was not long after that my wife came to tell me that water was coming under the back door. I looked out back to see water a foot deep but no sign of my dog. I ran around and opened the side gate. My lab came bounding out along with a flood of water and floating dog toys. For a lab who loved water, it was the best day ever.
We moved all of our important stuff upstairs and prepared to camp out until the flood waters receded.
Our neighborhood should not have flooded. The drainage was well designed and was doing its job. We found out later that someone had dumped a sofa into one of the ditches and it had plugged one of the primary outflows from our neighborhood. One litterbug flooded a third of a neighborhood.

El Uly’s ‘hood floods during heavy rains. Pecan Grove (not my neighborhood, but close) in Richmond is flooding pretty badly. Our street is clear, but plenty other sections of my master plan community has flooding.

I'm pretty sure all that is coming my way by tomorrow

Allison was nuts. My wife’s boss at the time was jet skiing down IH10 (jackass). We were going out to eat with my soon-to-be in-laws, decided that something bad was about to happen, and high-tailed it back to their house. We then found that their house was starting to flood, partially because my fiancé’s brother did a crap job at putting in stone in their backyard, which caused water to flow towards the house instead of away from it.
I had a fun time with a sledgehammer doing some emergency stone-busting.

My wife was working near the Galleria when it all started. She got out just before the water got high enough to block the exit to her parking garage. Several of her coworkers didn’t make it and ended up spending a couple of days in the office.

Well good luck then. The rains pretty much stopped here, but there’s a 100% chance of rain from 9-12AM so I’m not too optimistic! I’ll be interesting to see how the reservoirs do around here though, they tend to flood the parks when it pours bad, and this is definitely the worst in a while.

One of my favorite images from Allison. For those who don’t know, this is not a river. This is a freeway.

We’re in a gap between the heavy stuff. This ride isn't over.

I took off from Humble at 7 and got to my work 20 min ago. I am positive I won’t make it back home lol. Here’s a couple pics

If that guy knew what was in that water (chemicals, sewer line overflow, snakes, clumps of ants), he would NOT be out there.
Hope he didn't get get Hep from that little excursion.

The news keeps showing shots of the flooding around town. It's getting bad. Not TS Allison bad, but it's getting close. You might be bunking in an Aston tonight!

Lol the only people here are me, the Aston service adviser, and a couple Mercedes people. We’re just waiting for the tow trucks to come in with flood cars. I saw a new Maserati Ghibli with Helfman frames over paper plates flooded on 11th st near Hempstead. Dude, last time we had 10 Mercs, 2 Volvos, 1 Evora, and 5 Aston get totaled in the last flood here.

DUMB MOTHERF...S. I’ve seen two C7s flooded out on the news so far.
The Ghibli owner is about to find out how expensive Italian cars really are.

According to the meteorologists, my area might be thoroughly screwed from now until this afternoon. I'll need that luck.

Where are you located at? I used to live in Waterside off 99 but moved to Cinco almost 7 yrs ago. Oyster Creek was not far from my house and am glad to be away from there now.

A bit further south, near W. Airport and 99. Oyster Creek isn't too close to us.

US 59, very near our first apartment, which was just to the left of the bridges. The apartment has since been torn down, no doubt to make way for high-priced town homes. Those bridges weren’t there back in the day either. We lived there from 1990-1994.

We lived on the NW side of town near Cypress during Allison, so we didn’t get to witness the hwy 59 flood in person. We were dealing with the flood coming through our house.
